After a complimentary meet-and-greet at your hotel, your private tour guide will drive you in a luxury vehicle across the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge where a photo stop will be scheduled at a spectacular overlook. You will get to step out and enjoy these awesome views of the City by the Bay and islands, including Alcatraz. This vista point is one of the top spots where you can photograph the Golden Gate Bridge and gaze at San Francisco and Alcatraz Island. The Golden Gate Bridge was named after the strait leading from the Pacific Ocean to the San Francisco Bay.

In Muir Woods, you will enjoy a stroll in this pristine and ancient forest of giant redwood trees. Since there is very limited parking available in this small forest, and to preserve peace and tranquility we will drop you off at the entrance. The trails are easy, paved and well-explained and we know you will love it here.

Please note that there is no cellphone coverage in this steep canyon, but there is a public telephone you can use.

Tips for visitors of San Francisco Bay Area

•Please book your private tour asap because Muir Woods has become the first national park to require reservation in advance, with special commercial and parking permits. No one can visit Muir Woods without prior reservation. But don’t worry, we will take care of all the arrangements.

•"The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco." Says Mark Twain. This is true. The weather in San Francisco is unpredictable and often a bit too cold or foggy in the summer. Because the city is right at the mouth of the Golden Gate near cold ocean waters, it draws the wind and fog in during summer, making it subject to heavy fog most of the time from spring to autumn. Be sure to always bring a warm jacket, extra layers for cool weather and comfortable shoes.

•There is no cell phone coverage in Muir Woods because it is located in a steep canyon and the trails are topped by towering tall redwoods, but there is a public telephone you can use.

•There is very limited parking available in this small forest, so we drop you off at the entrance. To preserve peace and tranquility, tour guides are not allowed to escort customers inside this small forest of redwoods. This is the ideal way to explore Muir Woods away from dozens of noisy groups and tour guides. The trails are easy, paved and well-explained - you will love it here.

    ITINERARY

We do a complimentary pick-up and drop-off anywhere in Sausalito, San Francisco Presidio, downtown San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf or Sausalito.

We offer daily morning (am) and afternoon (pm) private custom tours by large van like a minibus for up to 15 people with the driver, and up to 7 guests by luxury SUV.

Your private dedicated tour guide will drive you from San Francisco to Muir Woods National Monument, home of the giant redwoods, or to any forest of giant redwoods you may choose in Marin County. We will drive across the famous Golden Gate Bridge, for you to enjoy photos stop along the way - either on the way to the redwoods or on the way back to San Francisco.

Enjoy a scenic drive through Mill Valley, on the panoramic highway, and on Pacific Highway 1 on the way to Muir Woods National Monument.

Once at Muir Woods forest of ancient sequoias, you will enjoy a peaceful stroll in this pristine park of old redwoods. Some of these ancient trees are over 1000 years old and as tall as the statue of liberty in New York, and even taller.

Muir Woods National Monument contains 6 miles of trails. There is a 1 1/2-hour loop, a 1-hour loop, and even a 30-minute loop which is very popular. You can see the best of the redwoods without even walking too far, but you can also choose to hike further.

The trails in Muir Woods are asphalted or board walked easy and flat on both sides of the creek. Those who don’t want to walk can still see a lot of redwoods, as close as the main entrance. Strollers and wheelchairs can enjoy the area located between bridge 1 and bridge 2, as it is flat and paved. There is a Visitor Center, a gift shop, a café deli with hot soup and sandwiches, and public restrooms. There is no cell phone coverage in Muir Woods because it is located in a steep canyon and the trails are topped by towering tall redwoods.

After your Muir Woods tour, your guide will drive you in your luxury vehicle to Sausalito where we will check you in at the seaplane tour company, where you will embark on a breathtaking 30-minute seaplane discovery flight. Terms, Policy, Frequently Asked Questions and Tips for Customers

Some Terms and Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is your Cancellation & Refund Policy?

Regarding our terms and refunds policy, we have reserved this tour and date for you and turned down other reservations to honor yours, we hope that you don’t cancel your tour, however, if you still want to cancel, please click on the tab Cancelation & Refund Policy to learn more. Also, we do honor our city, Alcatraz and redwoods tours even with one guest. However, the semi-private seaplane ride itself requires a minimum of two guests per trip. There can be a maximum of six people on board or a minimum of two. Please do not worry – there is a window seat for everyone on board.

How safe is the flight? Seaplane Adventures maintains one of the highest standards of safety in this industry and has a pristine safety record. Seaplanes themselves are extremely safe – as we like to say, “We have millions of square feet of runway everywhere in the San Francisco Bay!”

There is a patchy fog /clouds over the Golden Gate Bridge, will we still fly? Yes, fog is unpredictable and can be very tricky as it can come and go at any time, in just minutes. We will try our very best to fly you over the bridge or alternate the flight route so that you can get the best view of the bridge possible.

Under what weather circumstances will my flight be canceled? All flights are subject to cancelation for severe weather conditions. This determination is made by the pilot up to 30 minutes prior the scheduled flight, but the portion and cost of this flight is refundable when is cancelled by the pilot due to unforeseen weather conditions or reasons.

Why do you need the age and weight of each participant? All passenger weights are required as we do have a maximum weight limit based on the total weight of all participants for safety considerations. Pilots are also trained to load the aircraft safely based on weight distribution, so please be patient with where the pilot asks you to sit. Besides – everyone gets a window seat! For misleading information regarding age and weight, the flight may be canceled and not refundable.

What age is considered to be a child? Anyone under the age of 12. Price for a child will only apply for children aged 3-11 years. Children under two years of age may sit in a parent’s lap and are free of charge. The pilot will provide noise cancelation headsets or earplugs but if you have your own, feel free to bring them on board.

Why do I need to sign a release waiver before boarding my flight?

All passengers are required to sign a waiver before boarding their flight. This is the normal standard operating procedure as everywhere else.

Can I go to Muir Woods National Monument with a reservation?

Please book your private tour asap because Muir Woods has become the first national park to require reservation in advance, with special commercial and parking permits. No one can visit Muir Woods without prior reservation. But don’t worry, we will take care of all the arrangements.

    Trip Reviews

Alcatraz Island is Outstanding, book your tickets very early

Alcatraz Island tour is outstanding and a stunning sight and my favorite attractions in California, but you got to book your Alcatraz tickets very early. We booked our Alcatraz tickets 2 months in advance as a tour combined with the city tour, but the next day, Alcatraz park service got sold out. The energy and the impression you get when vising Alcatraz is something you need to experience for yourself. We loved our city tour as well with Jonathan, the tour guide was amazing and fun.

The Beautiful Island of Alcatraz and criminology

From the city tour to Alcatraz Island, we, and our kids had an amazing adventure, a bit cold in San Francisco Bay in summer ironically, but were very interested in the criminology and forensics stories of Alcatraz and San Quintin prison like Charles Manson, the Zodiac, Fong "Little Pete" Ching, Zebra killers, Felix Mitchell, the Unabomber, Scott Peterson, and Clarence and John Anglin and Frank Morris and their famous 'Escape from Alcatraz'. Wow! the feeling visitors get when you stepping onto Alcatraz island from the ferry boat is quite eerie and a bit creepy but interesting.

Reserve Alcatraz tickets in advance when visiting SF

Book your Alcatraz tickets months in advance before you travel to San Francisco, this is a must-see attraction when visiting San Francisco and Northerner California. A police officer from south Africa who traveled with us on the ferry had a stop offer in SFO, just to visit Alcatraz. Dress in layers, ironically summer is not warm, weather is cool and gets foggy in the in SF Bay. The views of Alcatraz from San Francisco are better than the views of SF from of the island, but the combo tour is a must do and saved us time and money. Thank you, Mary, great tour- our kids loved your jokes and stories about Alcatraz.

Alcatraz worth a visit & above expectation

Alcatraz prison is just as portrayed as in the Hollywood films with about Frank Morris (Clint Eastwood) in this maximum-security prison Alcatraz, the cell still preserved as seen in the Clint Eastwood movie “Escape from Alcatraz”. No trip to San Francisco is complete without visiting Alcatraz Island. It took me 2 tours to Alcatraz before I felt the strong atmosphere and energy you get after stepping off Alcatraz cruises ferry and onto the dock. this city private tour and Alcatraz is an exceptional combo trip I recommend for all visitors (worry- free).

    Alcatraz-SF: Worry-free vacation package

Worry-free vacation package, we were lucky to find and book this all-inclusive SF Alcatraz tour package, it was a worry-free reservation all included, the perfect way to indulge in San Francisco if you have no time. It was a convenient, affordable, and fulfilling combo trip of SF city attractions and Alcatraz tour. a must-do when visiting the city by the bay, and worth every penny you spent

Alcatraz, should be on everyone's bucket list

This is an incredible tourist attraction of San Francisco bay area, if you plan on visiting San Francisco you got to add Alcatraz to your bucket-list, more than Muir Woods or Napa. Alcatraz Island history itself is a very interesting story, before it even was used as a federal prison. How anyone could even escape from this remote Island? The audio headphone guided tour is informative and the stories and sounds of prison officers makes the guided tour so real. I am taking back amazing pictures to show my friends in Japan.

Great combo tour opportunity of SF-Alcatraz

This was our first visit to California, we did a city tour and didn’t know hard was to get Alcatraz tickets, luckily, our tour guide Patricia who was so professional and friendly, called the company, and arranged last-minute tickets for us to Alcatraz . Alcatraz tour. The experience lived up to our expectations and the reviews we had read about Alcatraz. We recommend this combo tour to all families with kids like us who have no time to scan through all these websites out there. This is a very serious and professional tour company, they exceeded our expectations

    San Francisco Alcatraz combo tour

Book your Alcatraz tickets immediately when you plan your trip to san fran, we had initially planned to book Alcatraz Island night tour but it’s 100% impossible to get. The day tour was not bad at all Apart from the fascinating story of Alcatraz, the trip to the island is phenomenal, and the city tour completed the package trip and appeal to all ages. That’s was a good company to work with.

Muir Woods & Alcatraz combo tour

Our Muir Woods & Alcatraz combo tour was exactly what we needed as we only had one day in SF. The tour is Well Worth the money that you spend. The big redwoods in muir wodos forest are impressive but the forest was crowded, and Alcatraz tour must be on everyone’s bucket-list, these sights and attractions in SF are amazing places to visit and see when you visit san fran.

Top Notch 5-Star City Private Tour

Stop reading trip reviews about San Francisco tour guides, and book with this local tour company, we booked the full day San Francisco city tour by SUV, the city tour exceed our expectations, and our tour guide Pat, certainly delivered. Superb service and highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome bay cruise around Alcatraz Island

This is great and an alternative tour experience when Alcatraz tickets are sold out, we were disappointed as we didn’t manage to get Alcatraz tickets, next time, we will anticipate and book Alcatraz tickets in advance. We were happy with this trip, it combined our city private tour, and the ferry cruise around Alcatraz island, we were trying to see most of SF attractions in a half day tour, and that was perfect as we had a trip the next day to Hearst Castle, and it was our last day in California. The cruise ship trip was over an hour, a ferry trip that took us around SF bay, around Alcatraz Island, and under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Fascinating combo tour of SF & Alcatraz

“Reserve Alcatraz tickets in advance, the tour was So much better than I was expecting. You get a ferry ride from San Francisco piers to the Alcatraz island. It was rainy, and foggy that day, but still well worth the trip. The trip was very well run, we were welcomed in the dock by a ranger who let us know some key information and rules before visiting the prison.

Why everybody is so crazy about Alcatraz?

Why everybody is so crazy about Alcatraz? Alcatraz Island is dim, cold, morbid, and crowded. We felt nothing, seen nothing, heard nothing that made it so appealing, a bit overrated in our opinion. Why criminals have become victims? They deserved to incarcerated in Alcatraz prison! Some visitors were even asking for autographs from a former inmate of Alcatraz, this makes no sense to me

Alcatraz & SF-Best part of our trip to California

This is an incredible tourist attraction. We did the tour with our kids, and they loved it too. The audio tour was well done, we took tons of pictures, hanged out and enjoyed the views of the city from Alcatraz Island. The views are spectacular from Alcatraz, go to the officers’ gardens’ side that overlooks the golden gate bridge, but watch out for the steps, they are very steep. Army officers and their wives who stationed on the Island in the early 1900s, planted all kind of vegetables there (The beauty on the beast).

Book your Alcatraz tickets months in advance before you travel to San Francisco, this is a must-see attraction when visiting San Francisco and Northern part of California. A police officer from South Africa who traveled with us on the ferry had a stop over in SFO, just to visit Alcatraz. Dress in layers, ironically summer is not warm, weather is cool and gets foggy in the SF Bay. The views of Alcatraz from San Francisco are better than the views of SF from the island, but this combo tour is a must do and saved us time and money.

    • Alcatraz & SF-Best part of our trip to California

This is an incredible tourist attraction. We did the tour with our kids, and they loved it too. The audio tour was well done, we took tons of pictures, hanged out and enjoyed the views of the city from Alcatraz Island. The views are spectacular from Alcatraz, go to the officers’ gardens’ side that overlooks the golden gate bridge, but watch out for the steps, they are very steep. Army officers and their wives who stationed on the Island in the early 1900s, planted all kind of vegetables there (The beauty on the beast).
